BOOK REVIEWING PROGRAM
St. Lawrence-Lewis School Library System participates in a book-reviewing program with the Franklin-Essex-Hamilton and Clinton-Essex-Warren-Washington School Library Systems. Library staff members are offered the opportunity to review new, publisher-provided books in exchange for written reviews of those books. Fall and Spring review programs are held, with a culminating Book Review Session at the end of each.
Guidelines must be followed for review format, content of review, timeliness of submission, etc. The program depends on the cooperation of all participants to responsibly and thoughtfully read and review their assigned items. Lists of all reviewed books are provided at the Fall and Spring Book Review sessions, including all bibliographic information and purchase recommendations.
The purpose of the Book Reviewing program is to bring new materials into libraries in an inexpensive manner and to provide librarians with the opportunity to view new materials prior to purchasing.
