Pharmacy Technician

This one-year program, 450-hour course prepares students to sit for the National Certification Exam. Pharmacy Technicians assist pharmacists in providing effective, appropriate, and safe pharmacy services and work in a variety of settings.

Students will develop the skills needed to perform the tasks of a pharmacy technician. They will study medical and pharmaceutical terminology, learn pharmacy record keeping and pharmaceutical techniques, explore pharmacy law and ethics, learn pharmaceutical calculations through hands-on compounding of various medication forms such as IV solutions, capsules, lip balms, lollipops, and others. Students will also gain practical experience by participating in Work-Based Learning in actual pharmacies.

Integrated Academic Credits Available: 1 credit of Math, and 1 credit of Science over the course of the curriculum.

Industry Certification/Concurrent Enrollment Credit Options: Students can earn First Aid and CPR/AED certification, as well as National Pharmacy Technician Certification.
