The Software Development and Business Design Program is a two-year program that is a team focused and student driven learning experience.
In the first year, students will learn how to program and design web applications using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript using the Adobe Creative Cloud suite of applications. This process will also include general graphic design theory and how it pertains to the User Interface design process for their web applications. Included will be the study of graphics and logos using Adobe Illustrator, and photo editing and graphic design using Adobe Photoshop.
In the second year, students will learn advanced and dynamic web development skills using PHP, SQL, and MySQL to create dynamic web content, some basic web server management skills, as well as other advanced programming skills and languages as time permits.
The ideal student should be self-motivated and able to work within a team environment as well as independently. They should have the initiative to take responsibility in advancing their skills and possibly be looking to advance into a college program for further study. You can earn up to 6 college credits throughout your 2 years, as well as earn multiple Adobe Certified Associate certifications, which are an industry standard in the world of development and design. This course will prepare students for further work or study in the world of computer science, cybersecurity, graphic design, web development, database programming, game development, and many other Information Technology based careers.
Integrated Academic Credits Available: 1 credit of Math, 1 credit of Science and 1 credit of ELA over the course of the two-year curriculum.
Industry Certification/Concurrent Enrollment Credit Options: Students can earn several industry certifications in Adobe as well as Entry-Level Python Programmer Certification upon completion of this program.
