SLL BOCES does not discriminate on the basis of sex and prohibits sex discrimination in any education program or activity that it operates, as required by Title IX and its regulations.

Inquiries about Title IX may be referred to SLL BOCES’s Title IX Coordinator, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights, or both.

Informal Resolution

In lieu of resolving a complaint through SLL BOCES’s Title IX grievance procedures, the parties may instead elect to participate in an informal resolution process. SLL BOCES does not offer informal resolution to resolve a complaint that includes allegations that an employee engaged in sex-based harassment of an elementary school or secondary school student, or when such a process would conflict with Federal, State, or local law.

Supportive Measures

SLL BOCES will offer and coordinate supportive measures as appropriate to restore or preserve that person’s access to SLL BOCES’s education program or activity or provide support during SLL BOCES’s Title IX grievance procedures or during the informal resolution process.

For complaints of sex-based harassment, these supportive measures may include, as deemed reasonable by SLL BOCES, one or more of the following:

  1. counseling
  2. restrictions on contact
  3. leaves of absence
  4. extensions of deadlines
  5. adjustments or change in assignment(s)

SLL BOCES may modify or terminate any supportive measures if SLL BOCES determines that such measures are no longer reasonable, are no longer necessary, or are no longer effective.

Parents Bill of Rights

Data Protection Officer: Darin Saiff (315) 386-4504 ext. 15100

The purpose of the Parents Bill of Rights is to inform parents (which also include legal guardians or persons in parental relation to a student, but generally not the parents of a student who is age eighteen or over) of the legal requirements regarding privacy, security and use of student data. In addition to the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), Education Law §2-d provides important new protections for student data, and new remedies for breaches of the responsibility to maintain the security and confidentiality of such data.
