Auto Tech Students Take on the Future of EV’s

Seaway Tech’s Senior Automotive Technology students are taking their skills to the next level with the Switch EV Extracurricular Program! The automotive industry is continually evolving, with complex electronic control playing an increasingly significant role. To meet the needs of our students and help them compete in this ever-changing market, an extracurricular component of their program was designed. This program involves building an Electric Vehicle called the Switch, specifically designed for high school programs to learn the fundamentals of electronic controls. Students can apply their learning about electric applications in current internal combustion engines as well as the expanding Electric Vehicle market. This hands-on experience allows students to build and rebuild a street-legal electric vehicle, gaining expertise in electronic controls, low/high voltage systems, troubleshooting, and more—critical skills in today’s evolving auto industry.

Congrats to the six Auto Tech students who embraced the challenge. Pictured L-R Brice Torro, Jordan Hotte, Connor LeRoux, Kaiya Wilson, Blake Martin, and Hunter Hackett.
